stubs\x86a\setup.exe not found

Hello

During BUILD process , just nearly at the end, I receive the following error message:

"error.Exception - Reason: File [C:\Program Files\Caphyon\Advanced Installer 6.7\stubs\x86a\setup.exe] could not be read."

This error is new, since I updated to version 6.7!

I did a repair installation of Advanced Installer - but no help.

RMK: My project contains about 4,2GB of files, Some Reg Keys, adding a new user and uses the folder sync feature !

Whats wrong?

Hi Jan,

Is the "setup.exe" file present in the "C:\Program Files\Caphyon\Advanced Installer 6.7\stubs\x86a\" folder? If not, please try uninstalling Advanced Installer and then reinstalling it (a repair may not have reinstalled the file).

Yes it exists! Give me some minutes I will try to uninstall and then reinstall it! Is it possible that there exists a VISTA UAC file access problem ?

Hi,

Perhaps the file is being used by another process. Are you running multiple build processes at the same time? Does restarting the machine help? Also, does your package contain multiple builds or just one?
The Vista UAC should not affect Advanced Installer.

OK, that is what I have done:

I uninstalled the software , installed it again! Now I restarted the system. Presently I am in a new build process.
That takes normally about 3,5 hours ( about 250 000 files !!! and 6 CAB files ~ 4,2 GB).
Do you know any way to speed up the build process, if you have that much files?
( My Hardware : Core 2Duo 2 GHz , 4GB RAM , 120 GB HD / VISTA Business , Advanced Installer Enterprise )

I will report again, if the problem still exists!

Hi Jan,

The most time expensive operations performed during the build process are CAB compressions and the file insertion in the MSI. Since you have a lot of files, you can try to obtain a shorter build time by using the CABs:
- make sure that your project is using caching
- disable the "Compress CAB files for smaller size" option in the Media tab of the "Media" page (this is recommended only for the debug builds)

I'm not sure why you are encountering this behavior. Can you please send us the AIP (project) file with the problem to support at advancedinstaller dot com so we can investigate it?

I had this error, but realised that the error only happend when a previously built file was open so that it could not be rebuilt.

I understand why this happens but it is not a very good error message
