I'm trying to create an msi file that will install the same features as an old Installshield project. The Installshield script launches several separate install/setup .exe files such as the .NET framework, drivers etc and waits for them to complete, sometimes giving warning messages if they didn't install. Is there any way to do something similar with Advanced Installer or .msi files?
If your program needs other programs to be installed, go to the "Media" page, choose the "Prerequisites" tab and either add predefined prerequisites using the [Add] button, or new prerequisites using the [New] button.
You may also have scripts, programs (.exe,.dll) running during the installation process. Use the "Custom Action" page to add run time processes.
I'm trying the same thing.. the Media page doesn't have "prerequisites" as a tab...
Are you referring to the professional or freeware?? I'm trying out the freeware to see if I like it.. so it is not very good since none of the features are enabled. How do you expect people to try it out if the features aren't available until they purchase the product?
I am referring to the Professional version. You have a one month trial period in which you can test all the features. All you have to do is create projects of type Professional.
The Freeware version doesn't have a trial period, you can use it as long as you wish. But only Simple projects are supported. You can still create Pro ones to try the Pro features, but after a month the Build operation stops working.
I suspect the problem with your project is that it is of type Simple.
