Issues with Auto update in manual mode

Hello,

I've configured auto-updates for our application (in manual mode), and I've uploaded an upgraded version of the installer to a server, whose URL is accessible publicly. I've verified that this URL is reachable, and this installer EXE downloads correctly.

In the Updater section of the upgrade project, I've specified "Uninstall old version first, reboot and install new version".

The issue is that although the upgraded installer is downloaded correctly, and it uninstalls the older version correctly, it gives an error after reboot saying "The installation package could not be opened. ....". Please see attachment. Please note that there is no problem with this upgraded installer, since when run directly it installs fine.

Another issue is that the updater does not run sometimes. The updater shortcut command is:
C:\MyApp\updater.exe /silentall
Even when this command is run directly from the command line, the Updater does not start up.

Appreciate any help on this.

Thanks in advance,
SDutt

Re: Issues with Auto update in manual mode

Also, in an Update Config project, when a new update is created, it asks for an installer file. This shows up in the "File path" in the "Update Installer" tab. And this path cannot be removed. Is this by design?

Since, in the "Properties" tab, we just want to specify the "Main URL", and have the upgraded installer downloaded, and not use any local path.

Thanks,
SDutt

Re: Issues with Auto update in manual mode

Hello SDutt,

I'm afraid I can't say for sure why this is happening.

In order for me to further test and investigate this, could you please provide the following resources:

- a copy of the AIP file used to build the setup

- a copy of the Updates Configuration Project

- a download link for V1 version of your product (so I can test the update scenario)

by email at support at advancedinstaller dot com?

Also, are you able to reproduce this on multiple machines (e.g. on a clean VM), or it happens on a specific machine only?

Best regards,
Catalin
