Reading INI file from source dir

Hi,

I used my own setup program for my application, but am switching to msi. I am using the evaluation version of Adv. Installer 2.4.1.

Earlier, I had a setup.ini file on my source folder (on the CD) which the setup program read to decide certain action before copying the files to the target machine.

I want to maintain the same mechanism in the msi. How can I read the setup.ini file before copying the files to the target m/c.

Regards,
Manish

Hi Manish,

I am not sure I understand here. If you are switching to MSI, that means you are not using your setup program - then why do you need the INI file anymore?

If you want to extend the installation, create a Custom Action which reads the INI the source dir.

That is exactly what I want to know. How can I access the INI file in the source folder before copying the files to the target directory.

The ini file must be stored in the msi. How can I get the values of Key in this ini file?

I tried the option but it only reads the key in the 'target' computer.
