Auto register DLL - registry information not extracted

I have an per-machine installer.
I have always used dll/ocx self-register, but am trying to get the information to "Extract registration info from native library" set with Synchronisation set to Enabled.
AI says "Registration info was successfully refreshed for file APPDIR\XXX.dll"
But there is nothing in the Registry or COM pages, nor is the dll registered when installed.
I'm running AI As Administrator. And the dll does register from a command prompt OK (regsvr32 etc).
I am assuming that AI is attempting to intercept the registry calls when the registration information is extracted?
Is there something I am doing wrong?

I'm not sure why this does not work for you. Can you please send us your project and the DLL file to support at advancedinstaller dot com, so we can test them and try to find the problem?
