Taskbar pinning lost after upgrade

Hi,

We are seeing a problem where, if the user pins one of our applications to the task bar, this pinning is lost when the user installs a newer version of our software.

Is there something we can do to help avoid this issue and reduce customer complains?

I'm afraid we don't have predefined functionality for this. However, you can implement this behavior yourself within a custom action. You can take a look on "Pin Items to the Start Menu or Windows 7 Taskbar via Script" article.
