Username and password properties for service

This issue is an extended problem of my following previous post but I am creating new topic as the scope of the current problem is completely different.

So, in v1 we have following dialog edit boxes that takes input for username and password and then this username is shown as service account in service manager under "Log On As".

When, v2 setup is run and "Use system account" is selected for service during the installation then once the installer finishes up, the service manager still shows the service username under "Log On As"; given as input during v1 installation. Instead showing Local System. (upgrade option is: Install new version first and then uninstall old version).

Interestingly, if v1 service is installed using "Use system account" and then v2 service is installed using input of username and password then service manager correctly shows the username as service account in service manager under "Log On As". So, it's only the problem when v1 uses username/password and v2 uses system account option.

Any thoughts?

Hello,

Most likely this happens because of the upgrade order you use. When you use the "Install new version first and then uninstall old version" upgrade order your v1 service (already installed) won't be deleted and removed before the v2 service is installed and started. Can you please proceed like this:
1. open your v2 project and go to "Services" page and select your service control item
2. check all three options (start, stop and delete) under "Actions on install" section
3. rebuild the project and test again the upgrade installation

If this is still of no help, then please send us the AIPs (project files) of your v1 and v2 packages and a verbose log of the upgrade installation to support at advancedinstaller dot com so we can investigate them.

Thanks Following did what we want.

2. check all three options (start, stop and delete) under "Actions on install" section

Also found that similar is mentioned on following page too

"If all three options are checked, the existing service will be stopped and removed and the service in the package will be installed and started."
