Open URL Not Working

Hi,

Can anybody help as to why my 'UI Custom Action' for opening a URL doesn't work? Here's what I have done:

1. Added Predefined Custom Action under UI Custom Actions, and made no modifications

2. Under 'ExitDialog' for 'First Time Install', I added a 'DoAction' Published Event for the Finish button to execute the Custom Action - the only condition specified is 'AI_INSTALL'

When I click on the Finish button, nothing executes at all. I did some troubleshooting and created an 'Error Message' under UI Custom Actions, and this action executed correctly.

I'm trying to to open http://localhost, as the installation is for a local web site.

Does anyone have any ideas what I am doing wrong?

Hi Halox,

I cannot reproduce this behavior on my test computer. The URL is opened in the default browser (installed on the target computer).

So please try to reproduce this on other computer and let us know if the problems persist.

Hi Gigi,

With a bit more testing, I figured it out.

If you have IE or Firefox set as your default browser, it works fine. If you have Avant Browser (http://www.avantbrowser.com - IE based browser), it doesn't work. I'm wondering if this would be the case with other 'wrapper type' browser applications - Maxthon, etc?

We manage to reproduce this behavior. We have fixed the problem, and the fix will be available in the next version of Advanced Installer scheduled for release next week.
