The prerequisite is installed; it shows up in programs and features.
The prerequisite is installed using another advanced installer, the prerequisite installer has the register with windows check box checked.
Can anyone say what is the trick to get installer installed program recognized by prerequisites process of another installer?

In the Prerequisite Install Conditions Tab of the prerequisite, you can set the install conditions of the prerequisite.
In the Install Conditions section make sure that you have selected the Install prerequisite based on conditions option and define a corresponding condition in the criteria list (e.g. registry search). Then, select a proper install condition from the Edit Prerequisite Search dialog, suitable for your scenario.
