Run as administrator

Greetings!

Under Install Parameters, I've checked "Run as administrator."

When I install the resulting exe, I get a UAC dialog box:

User Account Control
Program Name: [ProductName]
Verified Publisher: Stephen Rogers

Do you know where "ProductName" is pulling from?

In Product Details, I've completed the field.
In Deployment, Media, I've even clicked on "Customize EXE metadata" and typed in the product name rather than keeping the default pull.

I'm still getting the UAC dialog with "[ProductName]

Re: Run as administrator

Hello Stephen,

This may happens if you tried to use of formatted data type for the Value field from the EXE metadata dialog. Please note that the Value field is of PseudoFormatted data type.

If this is not your case, please attach a sample which replicate this behavior.

Best regards,

Re: Run as administrator

Hey Dan,

Attached are screenshots of the Product Details and edit metadata screen. (I couldn't capture the UAC dialog box with a print screen.)

Originally, I didn't touch the edit metadata screen, only doing so after the UAC dialog referenced [ProgramName].

Perhaps the UAC dialog is generated before the program metadata is fully realized?

Hi Stephen,

I'm not sure why you encountered this behavior. In order to have a better view about this, can you please send us the .AIP (project file) to support at advancedinstaller dot com so we can investigate it? If it contains confidential information you can send us a small test project which reproduce this behavior.

Best regards,
Dan
