"Merge operation FAILED" - Advanced Installer 10.5.1

Hi,

We have upgraded to Advanced Installer 10.5.1 and now we are having problems building some installers where we see the following error:
"Merge operation FAILED for module:"

One of the merge modules we are seeing fail is "VC_User_STL71.msm". A Microsoft merge module which pulls in "msvcp71.dll".

We downgraded to Advanced Installer 10.3 and the installers then build fine.

Is there any way to get a better idea of why this is failing? Or is this a known issue in 10.5.1?
I will try to produce a sample project which reproduces the problem.

I've attached a very simple installer project which has the Microsoft merge module in question. It fails to build.

After further investigation this seems to be an Advanced Installer issue. A fix will be available in a future version of Advanced Installer, thank you for bringing this to our attention. We'll notify you when the fix will be available.

Hi..
I am also facing the same issue. but with a different msm. I could not find a solution anywhere. Could you please suggest a solution.
I am using Advanced Installer 13.2.2 and Windows machine.

This is the error I am facing:
Adding merge modules
Merge operation FAILED for module: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Merge Modules\Crystal11_NET_EmbeddedReporting.msm. Error: Could not configure this Property table record.

Hello,

We reproduce the error you encounter and the problem is when the properties from the merge module are inserted in MSI's Property table.
More specific, the merge module have a property PIDKEY without value, but Property table doesn't accept properties with empty values. This is an MSI limitation.

So, the solution to this is to add a value for this property when you add the merge module to your project.
