Please keep in mind that the default behavior of an upgrade is the removal of an older product which is replaced by a newer product.
You can take a look on the
Upgrades article which may be useful to you.
You can go in the
“Upgrades” page where you can set the “Order” property of the application upgrade.
By default, the “Uninstall old version first and then install new version” option is enabled. So, during an upgrade is made a complete uninstall of the application (detect and completely remove older products ), so the related
XML File operation will work as expected, and then continue with the installation of the new product.
