File/Close Option

Hello, I searched the forum and realize that there have already been comments regarding this and that you have stated this is on your TODO list, but could you give any indication as to when there might be a File/Close option incorporated into the product? It is rather inconvenient to have to exit Advanced Installer to close a project file, and then relaunch Advanced Installer to open a different project file.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Tim,

I'm afraid we cannot offer an ETA for now. However, until then you can use the "Open" option to open another project.

I would find this a worthy change myself.

Because I have been working in and out of a AIP and an AITemplate file and the .aitemplate interaction does not get listed in the MRU list, so I have to Exit out of AI in order to go back to editing the .aitemplate file. A File > Close menu would mean I could get back to the Create / New screen and get to my .AITemplate more easily.

File/Close Option

Hi

Considering the current Advanced Installer UI, it is possible to open an old project or create a new project from the File menu. So, every use case scenario regarding Project File operations appears to be covered. Have we missed anything?

Re: File/Close Option

I always had had hoped for a way to "close" the current project and get back to that opening "dashboard" screen which I thought was always convenient.

+1 with what sjeslis said.

If you want to return to the dashboard the only way to do it currently that I am aware of is to close AI and re-open it. The dashboard is preferable to getting to the list of MRU (most recently used) projects.

You can always return to dashboard -aka StartPage- from File -> New menu option. However, the current project is not closed until another project -new or existing- is opened.

Let us know if this covers your usage scenario.

Re: File/Close Option

As a "workaround" I guess that helps.

The best solution, IMHO, is a File -> Close option :-) Like you can "Close A Solution" in Visual Studio.

File->Close menu item

Hi

This was discussed within our development team and the decision at this time is that we won't add a File->Close menu item.
The rationale for this decision was that the usual workflow is already supported by File->New menu item in Advanced Installer.

We apologize for this inconvenience.
