UnInstall Clean Up of the Locked Files by IIS

Hello,
During Uninstall, if there is a lock on the file by the IIS and if the uninstall finishes leaving a few locked files behind.. is there a way to remove/clean those files on system restart? We are using "Uninstall Cleanup" feature on the folder.. but, we are unable to lock the Files from the IIS to test this feature. Please let us know if there is any other better way to do a clean uninstall.

Thank you,
Kal

Hello,

Have you tried to use a custom action that will stop the IIS web application or web site before the files are being removed when you uninstall your application?

All the best,
Daniel

Re: UnInstall Clean Up of the Locked Files by IIS

Hello Daniel,
Thanks for your reply. I have not tried that. Could please throw some pointers on how to do it? The main purpose of our installer is to create a website on the IIS. So, on uninstall i thought it will stop the website first and then remove the files. Does it not automatically do it? It will be great if you could give me an example on how to do it. Thank you.

Re: UnInstall Clean Up of the Locked Files by IIS

Hi Kal,

Sorry we didn't get you the first time. Indeed, if you added an IIS entity from within an Advanced Installer project, built and installed that package, then it should be stopped and uninstalled accordingly.

Can you please send us the .AIP (project) and a verbose log of the install and uninstall processes to support at advancedinstaller dot com so we can investigate?
Also, please specify the left behind files you were referring to so we know what to look for.

All the best,
Mihai
