Hello Everybody!
I am looking for a solution to localize the Trial&Registration Dialog. In contrast to all other parts/dialogs I could not find a way to do that. Thanks for helping.
The dialogs are localized very easily using our dictionaries. You can find the dictionaries in the subfolder "dictionaries" of the installation location for Advanced Installer.
The files have the extension ".ail", these are standard text files which must be saved in UTF-8 for Advanced Installer to recognize any changes you make to them.
The file for English is "ui_en.ail". In it you will find at the end a set of ids that start with "TrialwareSettings". These refer to the strings that appear in the UI. All you need to do is to open
the dictionary corespondent to your language and make the adjustments desired. After you have finished editing the .ail file you will need to restart Advanced Installer in order for the changes to be reloaded.
We would appreciate if you would send us (support at advancedinstaller dot com) the updated copy of the .ail file so we can include it in the next of Advanced Installer.
Hi Bogdan,
thanks a lot for answer at first, but I am looking for the possibility to MULTI-localize the Trial&Registration Dialog. That means I would like to have the same behaviour as for the Trial&Registration Dialog like all the installer works. I offer my software respectively the installer working in three different languages (English, German and Spanish). The basic language is English. Now imagine the final customer installs the software in Spain on a "spanish computer" automatically the installer language is spanish but the Trial&Registration Dialog ist still presented in English. I would like to have the Trial&Registration Dialog-Language equal to the preselected language of the installer. Is this possible?
The licensing dialogs use the system language. So if the the original language of the system is Spanish, the dialogs should appear in this language too.
From what I see we already provide translated strings for Spanish.
Please make sure this is an original Spanish OS, i.e. Spanish is the language of the OS when installed, not changed after installation.
Hi Bogdan,
thanks again for your answer, but with my own PC, it's a german one, there is the same problem.
As I said, the basic language set within the *.aip file is English and although the software-installation runs in German and the langague of my operating system(s) is german, the Trial&Registration Dialog always appears in English.
So, do have any other idea as for a solution?
Thanks for further help and at first:
Merry Christmas.
Many Regards
Yoster
This behavior is caused by a bug in Advanced Installer. Thank you for bringing it to our attention. I added it on our TODO list and a fix will be available in the next version of Advanced Installer.
I can think of no workaround for a multilingual package, but you can try and use separate packages instead.
