Caption in Control Panel

Hi,

I have 2 Installers and both have same product name, issue what I am facing is, in Add/Remove program in Control Panel both are displaying the same name.
Can I change the name that is displaying in Add/Remove program in Control Panel.

Please suggest.

Hi Amit,

This name is set from the Product Details page, Product Name field.

Yes, this is know that from Product Details page we can change the Product Name.

Actually I do not want to change the Product Name because both the installers are Installing the files under the same Product folder on the Hard disk.

Is there any other way to change the Caption of Product that is displaying in Control Panel.

I'm afraid not, this is the only way you can do it.

Actually I do not want to change the Product Name because both the installers are Installing the files under the same Product folder on the Hard disk.

You can still keep the same installation path even if you change the Product Name from the Product Details page. All you have to do is to go to Install Parameters page
and change the Application Folder edit box value from "[ProgramFilesFolder][Manufacturer]\[ProductName]" to this:

[ProgramFilesFolder][Manufacturer]\MyInstallationFolder

Where "MyInstallationFolder" is actually the name of the folder in which you wish to place the two packages.

I think you are correct, but I am little afraid to change the Product Name.
Do you think will it affect me some where if I change the Product Name?

Hi Amit,

This will affect all the places from the project where you are using the property "ProductName". For example you could have registry entries with keys that have this name or paths of installation, or the path where it is stored the product
built by Advanced Installer from your project file.

If you have the latest version of Advanced Installer (7.7) you can easily detect these places by making a global search (CTRL + F) for the text "ProductName".
