Multilanguage GDFs

Hi there,
I am currently creating an installer which contains several games, each having their own GDFs. The problem comes when we try to localize these GDFs with a multilanguage build. It appears that multilanguage builds (as opposed to one language per installer builds) only generate the english GDFs, and install those for all languages.

Is it possible to have advanced installer generate GDFs for all 15 languages our multilanguage msi handles, and install the appropriate GDFs depending on the language at install-time?

The only solution i have found so far is (in the Translations page) changing the build to "Create separate packages" for each language. This isn't really a solution for us, because our client will not accept one installer for each of the 15 languages we are shipping in, so we need to be able to have all of the GDFs for all languages in a single multilanguage MSI.

Re: Multilanguage GDFs

Hello,

Make sure on the Translations page you have more than one language selected.
On the Game Explorer page right click the field you want to localize and click Localize. Specify your localization identifier there.
Now translate the string in your custom dictionary file.

Re: Multilanguage GDFs

Hi Gabriel,
I had already taken all of the steps you had mentioned when i made my original post.

As i have already said (if you re-read my original post), i can generate separate MSIs for each language and they successfully install the correct GDF for that language, but if I select "Create only a multilingual package" from the Translations page, the multilingual MSI only appears to be built with the English GDFs. Can you please verify that this is the case.

If advanced installed is capable of building a single multilingual GDF (it only builds one GDF during the multilingual build process), then why are the GDF details still coming up in english, no matter what system language I set?

Regards,
Nick

Hi Nick,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
I can confirm this is a bug. The fix will most likely be included in the next version of Advanced Installer.

Hi there,
I have been waiting patiently and checking release notes, but this bug has not yet been fixed. Can you please give us an idea of when a fix for this bug will be released? We have an imminent release deadline, and would really prefer to have this bug fixed sooner rather than later.

Re: Multilanguage GDFs

ah, thanks

We haven't upgraded to 7.7 yet due to project stability, but if this issue has been fixed then we will upgrade as soon as we get the chance.
