Different languages, same product code

My application is language-independent. However, I would like the installer to be able to run in several languages.

But if I add another language to the installer, it generates a separate product code for that language. This is inconvenient for me because I use the product code elsewhere.

Can I prevent this generation of separate product codes, or is it OK if I manually modify the product codes so that all install languages use the same product code?

Re: Different languages, same product code

Hi Claus,

Unfortunately the Product Code is generated automatically for each language and this process cannot be prevented. However, although it's not recommended, you can change the Product Codes by using the Project -> Options menu.

"Not recommended," you say. Why not? What is the risk?

Re: Different languages, same product code

Hi Claus,

Microsoft recommends to set a different ProductCode for each language. You can read more here. This way the packages for each language are recognized as different installers.
