No main exe and not icon on upgrade

Hi

I've been using Adv. Installer for some time now. I've configured it to replace older version of our program upon installation.
The uninstallation of the old version works fine and afterwards the new files get installed. However, the main exe file for our program as well as the shortcut (which is placed on the desktop and in the start menu) are missing after upgrade. If I run the installer again and choose to "repair" the installation, the main exe and the shortcuts appear again.

Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this issue?

I'm using Adv. Installer 6.2

Try adding Windows Installer 4.5 is a dependency. I read something about it here.

Re: No main exe and not icon on upgrade

Hi,

This behavior may be caused by a known Windows Installer bug related to file versioning. The workarounds are:
1) Use the "Ensure that this file overwrites any installed target file" option in the Version tab of the "Edit File" dialog.

or

2) In the Upgrades page select the "Install new version first and then uninstall old version" option.
