Not able to build downgraded .aip file

Dear Advanced Installer,

Nowadays we upgraded our .aip from AI 19.7 to AI 23.2, and as you know - we opened sevaral tickets already - we have experienced several problems with out prerequisites.
We got the idea of reverting our .aip to be openable with 19.7, but obviously it!s not an easy task. We modified the version in the top of the .aip file back to 19.7 and made another manual fixture in the file.
Now we can open up the .aip again with AI 19.7.1.

However when build it, we see this error:
Building package: D:\Work\TB_AGENT_1\17\s\Setup\Outcome\OnlineClient\TheClient.exe
Prepare build
Detecting MSI incompatible resources
Preparing files
Creating CAB file(s)
Computing files hashes
Creating MSI database
Error calling MSI API: 1627 Method: MsiDatabaseImport Table: BootstrapperUISequence. Extended Error:
Write Table IDT: 1: 2216 2: D:\Work\TB_AGENT_1\17\s\Setup\Outcome\OnlineClient\TheClient.msi 3: BootstrapperUISequence.idt 4: 16 .

Could you please take a look at our .aip and tell us what is broken in it? We will send it over via WeTransfer. We would need to build it with AI 19.7.1 for testing purposes.

Best regards,

Re: Not able to build downgraded .aip file

Hello Zsolt,

The best solution in this case is to have a backup project (e.g: the backup project created when you save it with a newer AI version).
We got the idea of reverting our .aip to be openable with 19.7, but obviously it!s not an easy task. We modified the version in the top of the .aip file back to 19.7 and made another manual fixture in the file.
Now we can open up the .aip again with AI 19.7.1.
In this case, it is not a good idea, as it involves a major redesign on the prerequisites functionality.

Despite the version modifier at the top of the aip file, there are many more changes in the update from v19.7 to 23.2. Therefore, I'm afraid that the project may not be downgradable. The only solution will be to open a backup project.

I will also reply to your email.

Best regards,
Liviu
