Re: Hide Updater Cancel Button

Hi and welcome to our forums,

I am afraid we do not have support to hide the [Cancel] button.

I have forwarded your feedback to my dev team and hopefully they will consider such improvements in the future, thank you for your suggestion.

All the best,
Daniel

Re: Hide Updater Cancel Button

Hello John,

I'm afraid this improvement hasn't yet been added, as there were no other user requests regarding this.

It is still on our TODO list of improvements, but has a low priority.

I believe that hiding the "Cancel" button from the user is not the best approach here, especially from a UX perspective. For example, if there is no internet connection on the machine, the user would need to cancel via Task Manager, which is not desirable.

If possible, could you please give me some more details as to why you would need to hide that button?

Best regards,
Catalin

Re: Hide Updater Cancel Button

A few follow up questions, to better understand your needs. Do you want to hide just the Cancel button or also the X button from the titlebar?

Also, have you considered using the updater in silent mode, where the updater provides the detection and install logic but you display whatever messages you want from your own application GUI?

Re: Hide Updater Cancel Button

As was posted elsewhere, it is possible to disable the Cancel button (or even hide it) using VBScript - it takes just 4 line.
But with VBScript going away, there needs to be another option. If PowerShell inline script had access to the MSI Session object, it would be possible to replicate the same functionality in PowerShell.

Why would one want to disable the Cancel button? Because sometimes the installation sequences are very complicated and it makes for the best user experience by preventing mistakes that may be difficult to resolve.
