File Associations: multiple extensions for same program

Hi,

i would like to register multiple extensions for my program.
In the https://www.advancedinstaller.com/user- ... tions.htmlthere is the following note:

Code: Select all

Only one extension should be associated with each ProgID.

Is this note still correct.
In the following sample https://www.advancedinstaller.com/user- ... ample.html and in the YoutTube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AiRSgBHXk5k there are two extensions registered to the same ProgId

Hello Dominik and welcome to our forums,

Please note that the first article is still up to date.

Although, as shown in the video&article, it is possible to have multiple extensions for the same ProgID, it is considerede a best practice not to.

How to Register a File Type for a New Application

We can see this stated in the above article as well:

If you plan to associate one or more file types with a new application, you must define a ProgID for each file type that you want to associate with the application.
