Checking for 9.x versions of flash

In the past, I’ve used Advanced Installer to install flash, but now that Adobe has changed some of the naming standards, it’s gotten more complicated.

The ocx used to be named "flash.ocx", but now the name seems dependent upon the specific version (flash9.ocx, flash9a.ocx, flash9c.ocx, flash9d.ocx, etc).

How can I have the installer check to see if ANY version is installed and if none are to register whatever version that I package with the MSI?

I’m running version 5.2.2.

Hi,

You can use the Prerequisite feature for this. In the "Prerequisites" page, in the "Software" tab you create a new prerequisite. In the "Install Conditions" tab you will specify a registry key as a search criteria. For example:

Registry key exists      HKLM\SOFTWARE\Macromedia\FlashPlayerPlugin

If you don't want to use a prerequisite, you can use a registry search for the

Code: Select all

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Macromedia\FlashPlayerPlugin

key and use the RESULT_PROPERTY property to condition a custom action which will launch the Flash Player installation.
