Re: Best approach for renaming a file...?

Hi Cosmin,

I simply need to rename one of the files installed by the installer and have the installer not remove that file.

Thanks,
Adam

Best approach for renaming a file...?

Hi there,

Our installer needs to rename one of the installed components upon uninstall. What would be the best approach to doing this? I'm relatively new to AI and am still feeling my way around it's very rich feature set.

Thanks,

Re: Change the GUID

However, the correct way is to recreate one of the projects from scratch as the the components guids are the same too and could appear problems.

I'm experiencing the same problem. I might suggest that the suggestion of starting a new aip from scratch is truly ridiculous. There should be a way in ...

Another version installed?!?!?

I am using the same installer package to create similar applications produced for one of our clients. The Product Name is different between the different installers. Why am I getting a message when I attempt to install that "Another version of this product is already installed."? What needs to be ...

Re: Vista: Installer not frontmost application?

Advanced Installer 6.5.2 (which, by the way... asks me to reenter my license key every few times I run it)...

The only launch condition prerequisites are Windows NT from "Windows 2000 Service Pack 4" and Minimum Screen Resolution of "1024 x 768"

I am using Bootstrapper to:

Vista: Installer not frontmost application?

A client is testing our installer on Vista is reporting that the installer is not focusing as the frontmost application when launched. Is there anything I can do in the AI application to control this? Any suggestions why this might be occurring?

Thank you!

Re: Making "Undo" action

Hi !

Any update on the undo function...? The only way to reverse an action in the dialog editor is to exist without saving and reopen. VERY frustrating...

Re: Images in Dialogs

Hi Adam,

What about the background? What size is that?
If you are referring to the dialog image you can use the resolution 503 x 314 pixels.

If you are referring to using a banner image in your project, this can be done through the Theme tab of the "Global Properties" page.

Hi Cosmin,

I'm ...

Re: Images in Dialogs

Hi,

So... what do I tell my client who wants to provide art files to me for the Banner Bitmap and the "PrepareDlgBitmap_1"? What sizes should those elements be?
Like I mentioned in my previous post, the size recommended by Microsoft is 500 pixels wide by 70 pixels high. Therefore, the banner ...

Re: Images in Dialogs

Hi Adam,

I'm afraid that there is no actual method for converting installer units in pixels. This is because the relative size of dialogs, controls and fonts can change depending upon the font size used in the UI of the package. However, you can use the size recommended by Microsoft:
Banner ...

Thank you for the response.

Images in Dialogs

A client has supplied me with a Photoshop file to brand their installer. When I save the image as a 72dpi jpeg at 370 x 44 (the size of the default banner image in the FolderDlg dialog) and use it in the dialog it becomes terribly pixelated. What am I doing wrong?
