I reported this back in June of 2005, but it has not been implemented yet. I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one with this problem. Once they add this, I may look at purchasing a license again - I let my current one drop due to this, as it is an important feature for me.

Hi Gigi,

I could do that, but we are talking about @30 different assemblies I would need to add in both places. I currently add these in 1 VBScript file.

Any chance of adding the copy / move GAC install functionality in a future release of AI? I originally requested this feature on July 18 ...

Execute Temp File in Install Package from VBScript

Hi AI Support,

What I am doing is running a VBScript which executes the .NET CLR GACUTIL.EXE utility to install some assemblys into the GAC. I want to ...

I read the docs that you provided - they make sense. I understand the concept of "Pin"ing, which is similar to the old reference count method that pre .NET DLL's had to deal with. This answers my question about deleting an assembly.

I also read the doc about ...

Do not remove .NET Assembly .DLL from [TARGETDIR]

Is there a way to install an Assembly into the GAC and leave it in the [TARGETDIR] after the install completes?

I develop cusom controls that are used by the Visual Studio .NET 2003 IDE. These controls get compiled to a .DLL, of which I place into the .NET GLobal Assembly Cache (GAC) via the AI ...
