Holy cow... no more patches?!

Hi,

Last time I needed to build some patches there were no problems, I now find that the functionality has gone and that I need a new licence... I didn't notice this during upgrade processes - when did this go away from my Java licenced version?

OK... that's understood - then it does appear to be a defect:

Create an AIP project with updater enabled.
The URL to the updates ini set to http://myserver.com/myupdatesfolder/

(note absence of ini filename at end of URL)

Compile the MSI and install the product/updater - you then then run a check ...

Update fail error trap?

When enabling the Updater feature, you can specify a URL - even if this does not specify an ini, the MSI builds correctly and using the updater /checknow reports the product is up to date.

Do you need to specify the update ini on the webserver - if not how do you determine whether there are updates ...

Externalised APPDIR

Hi, thanks for the updates to 4.1 - it's a monster of an update - lots of great features!

I'm still manually re-building my MSIs to externalise the content of APPDIR - is there any timescale for implementing a switch to place the installation files immediately alongside the MSI instead of one ...

Modification of files post build

Hi Ciprian, this is not the behaviour that I am experiencing.

When I make a change to a Readme file -for example - after building the MSI, the install correctly operates, and uninstalls correctly (i.e. completely) with the proviso that:

The files are external to the MSI, MD5 checksumming is ...

Hi,

I'm afraid that you cannot create such a MSI file. Every time an item from the package is modified you must rebuild the project. All the information on the files and folders from the package is stored in the MSI and after every build this information is updated. This is the way Windows ...

Hi Denis,

I've successfully rebuilt an msi to permit run from source as per your instructions, the only problem noted so far has been a failure to execute the application from the final dialogue. All shortcuts function correctly and the readme executes from the final dialogue - APPDIR\readme.rtf ...

Building MSI copies data into APPDIR

I'm building an MSI to drop into an existing CD build. I can't change the CD build, which permits run from source (i.e. all data is unpacked at root level of the CD). When I build an MSI, the data is expected in a folder titled 'APPDIR' alongside the MSI. Can I bring it out of this folder?

Icon shenanigans

When installing multiple products (series of discs), we've found that the icon behaviour of the installed files has been very confusing. The icons have been applied through a .dll file and depending on the installation order of the msi files, the respective application icons do not necessarily apply ...
