unresolved %USERNAME%

I had to recreate my project.

Now when the installer runs it creates an unresolved path:

C:\Users\%USERNAME%\Desktop

What must I do to make %USERNAME% resolve?

Re: Windows 8.1 Public vs User Desktop Folder

I followed your example project to create a property based folder USER_DESKTOP. (see attachments)

When I run the installer I get a message:

Could not find the network location NONE. (see attachments)

Please help me get beyond this message.

Thanks!

Windows 8.1 Public vs User Desktop Folder

I want to install the Application Shortcut and another file on the User's desktop folder.

By default the files go to the Public\Destkop.

I added a new Property based User Defined folder to the installer project "Desktop" with the value %userprofile%. Now I can't seem to modify this or remove it ...

Re: Installed program fails after update to 11.8 build 62156

I am installing onto MS SurfacePro's that are running Windows 8.1 Pro.

I think my app is losing a battle with the operating system/virtual store.

Because my app writes back to it's self, and depends on those updates, it is having this failure.

The solution seems to be to install the app where the ...

Installed program fails after update to 11.8 build 62156

I just updated to build 11.8.62156 of AI.

My installations since then are crashing.

The original program (source of the installer build) runs OK. The installed program does not.

When I compare the two folders and manually update the installed folder with the differences, it still fails.

I am ...

Re: Old version remains, launches after new install

Problem was solved using the option to install the application folder contents into the parent folder.

Windows 7 seems to be doing something with the installation files that causes this problem.

Old version remains, launches after new install

v8.6.38980
Windows 7 target OS

After running the new installer with a new product code the old version appears to be correctly replaced in the file system, but the old version launches instead of the new version?

Re: persistent data deletes - is not persistent

Mihai,

Thank you for recommending a work-around to this bug. At least I know something can be done about it for now.

Using the "Syncronize Content with folder from disk" option for me ensures that the installer project has all the correct components.

Using the "Persistent Data" wizard SHOULD MEAN ...

Re: persistent data deletes - is not persistent

The "Updates" page had/has "Install new version first..."

I've sent the .aip and the verbose installer log.

Thanks!
